Hemingway ideas of what a man should be are somewhat
different than what we think of how men are supposed to be or act. One of
Hemingway code states that men should never show emotions. I think this is wrong because I think men
should be able to show emotions just like women do. Most men show emotions like being angry or aggravated
opposed to being upset and crying. I think that men’s reason is that if they
cry in front of people then it shows them being weak, and according to them
they are never supposed to show signs of weakness. Another code that Hemingway states is being
completely honest, keeping ones word or promise. I think that all men should be
completely honest with themselves and other people around them. In a
relationship I think this is one of the main things that keeping the
relationship going is being honest. I would not want to be in relationship
where the man was not being honest with me. The last code that I am going to
discuss is maintaining free-will and individualism, never weakly allowing
commitment to a single woman or social convention to prevent adventure, travel,
and acts of bravery. I think this code
is important because there are a lot of men that are afraid of commitment. Some
of the reason I think they are afraid is because the divorce rate is so high
and many men think that women are going to go out and cheat on them. Men want to be independent and if they commit
to someone it might make them depend on someone else.
