Do you think digital is replacing print? Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing?

I think digital is replacing print to some instance. I have an iPhone along with an iPad but still find myself using my computer and printing off stuff. I have three online classes this semester and if I did not print out the syllabus then I would get all the information confused with each class.  I think that digital has come a long way since I was even in school.  I think bringing digital into our elementary schools is preparing the students for the future because digital technology is becoming more vivid each year.  I think replacing print with digital is both a good and a bad thing. One reason replacing it is a good thing is anyone could read it from anything that is digital rather it be computer, phone, or ipad. Another reason replacing it would be good is that no one would have all the papers just lying around or a bunch of files. The third reason is it would save the trees and make our planet more Eco-friendly.  There are a couple reasons why replacing printing with digital could be a bad thing too. One reason would be if the digital device messed up and it erased everything. Another reason is that some people cannot afford to get digital devices and if there are not libraries then some people would not be able to get the information they needed.

  1. You make some really great points! I, for one, would love to be able to digitize all of the paperwork I have filed away in my office, both at home and at work. However, it would be a world altering tragedy if that information was somehow lost. I think back to the panic of Y2K when everyone thought that all of the computers were going to crash and began printing all information from their computers and buying everything they would need since cash registers wouldn't work. It was a mess! I think it's safe to say that we rely too much on technology.
