For this week's blog, I would like you to discuss which person you chose and why you chose that person.

I was given three different people which included Michael Jackson, Charlie Chaplin, and Fidel Castro. The person I have chosen to write my biography over is Michael Jackson.  The first reason I have chosen Michael Jackson is because I have never really known him or been a fan of his but always heard of him when I was growing up .When my fiancĂ© and I first got together, his sister loved Michael Jackson and when he passed away in 2009 than it really took a toll on her.  The second reason I would like to write over Michael Jackson is because he had tons of music that hit the charts. I never did really listen to his music besides Thriller which was one of his biggest hits. The last reason I would like to write over Michael Jackson is because he had a lot of things go on during his life time besides just music. He got married several times and out of one of those marriages had three children. In 2003, he was arrest and charged with seven counts pertaining to child molestation. Although, in 2005 Michael Jackson was found not guilty to the child molestation charges due to lack of evidence.  Once I started doing a little bit of research on Michael Jackson then his life story became a little bit interesting to me. When I saw the other two people I was given I was unsure of who they are. I did do a little bit of research over them, but I think I find Michael Jackson more interesting because he is someone that I always heard about growing up.

I think there are some people that have medical conditions that cause them to look like they are anorexic and to be overweight. I know some people that are anorexic and no matter what they take or eat they cannot gain any weight. Just like some overweight people they try to eat right and exercise but cannot seem to lose any pounds. I think that many women that are trying to impress others are more likely to become anorexic or bulimic. Some women think that they "look good" when they are nothing but skin and bones but I beg different because when I see someone that looks like that then I think that look disgusting. I think when it comes to children not wanting to eat then more than likely you can make them eat something. Young children now days are looking up to celebrities and other women as role models, and when they see them so skinny then that is how they will want to be. I believe that no one should put that kind of harm to their body. People should eat healthy and choose a healthy life style so they can be happy with themselves.  I can see how a picture can make someone want to lose weight because sometimes when I look at some old pictures of me I make comments about how much weight I need to loose and etc. Although I would never harm my body to lose weight I would make healthy decisions .

I do not have children of my own but I can say that when I do decide to have children I will try to monitor what they read. I know that I will not be able to monitor everything they read but I would hope to monitor the majority of it. I would not want my children reading about “adult content” until after I have already talked to them about it. I think that it is a parent’s job to teach their children about adulthood. I know that some parents don’t want to talk to their children about sex or anything pertaining to that subject, so their children either find out by other people or they read about it. I see kids that are only thirteen and fourteen talking about Fifty Shades of Grey and I do not think that is an appropriate book for anyone under the age of sixteen and under. When I was in seventh grade these sex education people came in and showed us a video of different kind of disease and different things. The school never informed my mom that they were going to show us this video and at that time my mom never talked to me about sex.  I think now days that children are learning about different things at a younger age.  I think that some of the magazines that they have at the checkout should have the cover of the magazine covered up because there are some inappropriate things displayed on some of the covers.

In Richard Wright's "The Man Who Was Almost a Man," is Dave ready to be a man? Does he understand what being a man is?

Part of me thinks Dave is ready to be a man, but then the other part of me does not think he is ready. The reason I think that Dave is ready to be a man because he wants to know what it is like to have freedom. Dave is only seventeen but he has to work for school clothes and he does not get any money to just do what he wants with.  The reason I think he is not ready is because he does not know what the real world is like because he hasn’t had to manage his money or pay bills. I do not think people realize how hard the real world is until they move into their own house and have to pay their own bills. I know that when I was younger I could not wait to move out on my own, and now that I do live out on my own I always think why did I want to move out. I think Dave thinks he understands what being a man is.  I do not think that he understands that part of being a man is doing the consequences for your actions. When Dave got onto the train I think he was running away from all of his problems instead of dealing with them like a man should do. While I was reading the story, I could tell that maybe Dave had something wrong with him and I could tell that his dad was mean to him sometimes.
