Hemingway ideas of what a man should be are somewhat different than what we think of how men are supposed to be or act. One of Hemingway code states that men should never show emotions.  I think this is wrong because I think men should be able to show emotions just like women do.  Most men show emotions like being angry or aggravated opposed to being upset and crying. I think that men’s reason is that if they cry in front of people then it shows them being weak, and according to them they are never supposed to show signs of weakness.  Another code that Hemingway states is being completely honest, keeping ones word or promise. I think that all men should be completely honest with themselves and other people around them. In a relationship I think this is one of the main things that keeping the relationship going is being honest. I would not want to be in relationship where the man was not being honest with me. The last code that I am going to discuss is maintaining free-will and individualism, never weakly allowing commitment to a single woman or social convention to prevent adventure, travel, and acts of bravery.  I think this code is important because there are a lot of men that are afraid of commitment. Some of the reason I think they are afraid is because the divorce rate is so high and many men think that women are going to go out and cheat on them.  Men want to be independent and if they commit to someone it might make them depend on someone else.

In unit two the things I have found the most useful is the library database and the grammar quizzes.  The library databases have helped me learn that I can use them to help me research for specific topics. I have used very few of the databases while I was doing a Human Anatomy research paper and the data bases was very useful to me so I could find material that was legit. I have more research papers that I have to do this semester not including this class that I know will require the libraries attention. I think that the databases will be much easier to navigate around then trying to look up stuff on the internet and see if it’s legit. The grammar quizzes this week has been a lot of help to me. It has been at least a year since I have had freshman English one, and while I was in high school English was never my best subject. The ones that have helped me the most have been the fragment and run-on quiz. English never has been my favorite class and I’m glad these quizzes were there to help refresh my memory.

The only concern that I have had this week is the paraphrasing exercise. I would have to say that this is one of my weak points in English.  I understand the material, but I just have trouble putting it down on paper without using some of the words from the passage.  Is there anything that you would recommend doing to help me become stronger in this area?

Do you think digital is replacing print? Do you think this is a good thing or a bad thing?

I think digital is replacing print to some instance. I have an iPhone along with an iPad but still find myself using my computer and printing off stuff. I have three online classes this semester and if I did not print out the syllabus then I would get all the information confused with each class.  I think that digital has come a long way since I was even in school.  I think bringing digital into our elementary schools is preparing the students for the future because digital technology is becoming more vivid each year.  I think replacing print with digital is both a good and a bad thing. One reason replacing it is a good thing is anyone could read it from anything that is digital rather it be computer, phone, or ipad. Another reason replacing it would be good is that no one would have all the papers just lying around or a bunch of files. The third reason is it would save the trees and make our planet more Eco-friendly.  There are a couple reasons why replacing printing with digital could be a bad thing too. One reason would be if the digital device messed up and it erased everything. Another reason is that some people cannot afford to get digital devices and if there are not libraries then some people would not be able to get the information they needed.

A little about me

Hello everyone, my name is Annetta and I just turned twenty-one on the fourteenth of December. I am a full time college student with only one more class left after this semester and I will graduate with my AA degree.  As you can see the first picture is my fiance and I, we have been together for almost five years and I do not know what I would do without him at times. He does work on the boats so I'm home alone for a month at a time but it is the career he has decided to do with his life. The second picture is my sister and I, we have a very close relationship although she lives almost two hours away. My sister and I have been through so many obstacles when we were growing up it made us depend on each other more. The last collage is pictures of my nephew, Sayden, and niece,Lexi. Sayden is five years old and will start kindergarten in August. He has been my blonde-haired blue eyes little boy ever since the day he was born. Lexi is two years old and just started talking which I absolutely love. She also has been my little girl since she was born. These two kids hold a special place in my heart that nobody will ever be able to fill. I love these kids to pieces. The only concern I have about this class is the majority of what the class is and that is writing papers. Sometimes I struggle with writing papers but I'm hoping that this class will help me with that. I hope everyone has a good semester.
